Overview

Optimist is seeking an eagle-eyed Line Editor to polish blog posts until they shine.

You’ll be the last line of defense between our content and typos, grammatical errors, and formatting mistakes.

Responsibilities

• Line editing: Review and edit content for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Style editing: Make sure client-specific writing guidelines and stylization is used consistently.
• Final touches: Complete a checklist of final check items including things like formatting, checking hyperlinks, proof reading graphics, or writing image alt text

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Extreme attention to detail and able to quickly spot minor typos, extra spaces, and other small inconsistencies.
• Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, usage, and mechanics. Can spot the difference between an en-dash and an em-dash from a mile away — and knows when to use either one.
• Versed in standard styles (AP, Chicago, etc) but comfortable breaking the rules when a client demands it.

As a freelancer with Optimist, you'll be expected to:

• Check into Slack and Asana periodically to keep up on any updates or changes.
• Communicate with your team on any scheduling or deadline conflicts
• Self manage your time and communicate questions or issues pertaining to work tasks.
