At Optimist, we believe graphics should compliment copy beyond the realms of looking pretty. We love images that enhance reader understanding, visualizing data in compelling ways, or showing real-world examples.

Our team is seeking a freelance Visual Coordinator to help make our content look amazing.

You’ll serve as the bridge between content writers and content designers.

Your job is to identify interesting concepts, data points, workflows, or processes that are described in the written copy. Then, translate these ideas into design direction for designers to execute. All while maintaining brand standards and following (or improving) our design direction guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities: Review content to spot concepts that need visual support
• Provide design direction: Create clear instructions (sometimes sketches) for designers
• Review existing visuals: Repurpose suitable graphics when available
• Refine supporting copy: Adjust text to complement planned visuals (if/when necessary to introduce a relevant example)
